🍂 Your Fall Family Session Questions, Answered

Fall is one of the busiest (and most beautiful) times of year for family photos. Between the changing leaves, cozy outfits, and golden light, it’s no wonder so many families choose this season to update their portraits.

If you’re thinking about booking a fall session this year, here are a few of the most common questions I get from clients — along with answers to help you feel prepared and excited!

How early should we book our fall session?

Fall dates go fast — especially weekends. Families love using these sessions for both updated portraits and holiday cards, which means my calendar fills quickly. Booking at least 4–6 weeks in advance gives you the best chance of getting the date and time that works for your family.

What if the weather doesn’t cooperate?

Southern Alberta weather is unpredictable — we all know it! 🍁 If the day turns out rainy, windy, or just too chilly, don’t worry. I always hold a few backup dates for fall clients so we can reschedule and still make sure you get the photos you’ve been looking forward to.

Can extended families book fall sessions too?

Yes! Fall is an amazing season for extended family photos. If you’re already gathering for Thanksgiving, a reunion, or just a long-overdue visit, why not capture it? It’s such a meaningful way to remember everyone being together — and to make sure grandparents, cousins, and siblings are all part of the story.

Can we bring pets to our session?

Absolutely! 🐾 Pets are part of the family, too. Just let me know in advance if you’d like to include them, so I can help suggest the best location and timing. A little extra planning makes the session smoother (and keeps tails wagging!).

How soon will we get our photos back?
