Congratulations to Evan & Stefanie! We recently ventured to Heritage Acres Farm Museum, which was the perfect backdrop for their rustic country wedding. In one of the best wedding day gifts you could ask for, the rainy forecast gave way to sunshine, and the normally gale-like winds of Pincher Creek were replaced with a nice, light, model-breeze! What more could you ask for?
We started the day at the Ramada by Wyndham in Pincher Creek, where Stefanie and her bridesmaids were busy getting ready – just two doors down from where Evan was! Thankfully he was needed elsewhere, as we thought this double door in his room would be a great backdrop for Stefanie’s wedding dress. Stefanie got her gown in a private pop-up sale, and her bridesmaids gowns were from Azazie. She accessorized with cowboy boots from Lammle’s.
We loved these cute custom cups for the bride and bridesmaids!
Jackie noticed a small hand mirror in the hotel room and was able to capture this beautiful bridal portrait. Stefanie’s hair and makeup was done by ladies from Catwalk salon. They were a great glam squad for Stefanie, who looked gorgeous with details of small sunflowers in her hair to match the bouquets.
Stefanie’s mother (and father) had travelled all the way from Germany, where Stefanie is originally from, for the special day. Stefanie’s mother borrowed her an old bracelet, and she shared with me that she had bought the bracelet with her very first paycheck. We needed to share this sweet detail, as these are the small stories that add meaning to the day.
We finished with some group pictures with the bridesmaids and hurried off to the Zoeteman-Vogelaar Dairy Barn at Heritage Acres to await Stefanie’s entrance.
Inside the barn waiting patiently with his groomsmen was Evan, who looked fantastic in his suit from Moore’s. His groomsmen kept the mood light with their comedy and a drink to take the edge off! One posted himself outside to watch for the arrival of the bride.
What a fantastic ceremony backdrop! Awaiting Stefanie and Evan at the barn door was a surprise her mother quietly shared with us before the ceremony. It is a German tradition for the groom to carry his bride through…well maybe the pictures will explain better than I can?
It was so fun watching them include this tradition in the ceremony, and made for some beautiful pictures!
Did we mention that the rain forecasted was replaced by sunshine? HOT sunshine? We made our way to the shade for some family pictures followed by formals. Heritage Acres Farm Museum is a beautiful property, and sits on the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, so we didn’t have to go far to find countless photo ops!
Here’s a fun behind-the-scenes photo followed by one of the shots taken!
The guys were happy to take off their jackets for this casual group shot (but less happy to put down their cold beers).
This bridal party looked fantastic and had the energy to match, they had lots of fun ideas and posed like champs! We can see why Stefanie and Evan chose these people to share in their day.
This has to be one of my absolute favourite jump shots – hand down! Hands up!?
A little exploring the grounds led us to stumble on this gorgeous red barn wall, surround by lush green bushes. We posed them here, but we have to credit Evan for getting this beautiful smile out of his beautiful new wife!
Stefanie showcased her modelling skills with this stunning bridal portrait! Bouquets for the bridal party came from Twisted Hummingbird in Fort Macleod.
We loved the cool grey of this cement wall, just under the barn entryway, and knew it would look perfect with Evan’s suit.
While we didn’t catch much of the rain, we were able to watch the storms rolling in the distance. Jackie took advantage of the dramatic background for this gorgeous bridal portrait.
We made our way back to the barn for the reception, and were shocked to discover that Stefanie had setup much of the decorations herself! There were so many details, like this description of their first date, as well as a guest book made from wood hearts, a “bucket-list” of date ideas, a beautifully-adorned photobooth, and fun little pill bottles filled with M&M’s (an homage to Stefanie’s job as a veterinarian).
Catering was provided by Country Encounters in Coleman, AB, and everyone agreed that the meal was absolutely delicious!
This amazing cake & sweets were created by Prairie Stone Catering in Claresholm, AB. She did an amazing job as always, and would highly recommend chatting with her for your next event.
We were very excited for this dance picture, as the late day sun shone through the barn doors providing a wonderful natural backlight for our couple. DJ services were provided by HiWay Productions, who did a great job getting the party going!
Evan’s ring is from Foster and Sons, and Stefanie’s is from Peoples Jewellers.
We snuck away for a few final formals, including some romantic sunset photos, and we loved this shot of Stefanie on the stairs of an old farm building.
For our final shot of the night, Evan and Stefanie provided their guests with sparklers so they could have this incredible sendoff! What an amazing party, everyone worked together to coordinate lighting the sparklers and lining up into the barn, thanks to all who made these pictures great.
Thanks to Evan and Stefanie for having us along for their day, we are so grateful to be able to spend the day taking pictures at such a beautiful place, and with such fantastic people. Congratulations!
